Somewhere between a colouring party and a cultural critique.

The Lab is the live events and workshop arm of Kazvare Made It. Through illustration, satire and play, we turn galleries, shops and museums into spaces where people make, colour, decorate, argue a little and leave with something they made themselves. The work uses humour to get at bigger conversations about culture, identity and everyday life.

Previous collaborators include Tate Modern, adidas, Meta, UNIQLO and London Transport Museum.

FEATURED PROJECTS

Tate x UNIQLO Artist Residency

Tate Modern 25th Birthday Weekender, 2025

For Tate Modern's 25th birthday, the Tate x UNIQLO shop became a three-day postcard studio. Visitors of all ages collaged, stickered and decorated their way through prompts created by us and inspired by the Tate collection, and left with a one-off postcard from the weekend. All three days sold out.

UNIQLO Tate Lates: Women Artists

Tate Modern, 2022

For a Tate Lates celebrating women artists, we took over an entire floor with colouring sheets, chatterboxes and bunting, all built around the realities of being a woman artist. Visitors folded, coloured and decorated while talking about the barriers women artists face. The evening doubled as a celebration of the art women make anyway.

adidas x KMI: Wrap Fest

Various London stores, 2018–2021

Wrap Fest was a concept developed by Kazvare Made It for adidas, transforming retail spaces into playful, participatory environments through live illustration, colouring activities and limited-edition wrapping paper designed exclusively for the project.

Over four years, it turned shop floors into places where strangers sat down, drew together and stayed longer than they meant to.

MORE FROM TATE MODERN

Our longest-running partnership: workshops, installations and Tate Lates events since 2019.

Philip Guston-Inspired Satirical Comics Workshop

Tate Modern, 2023

Taking Philip Guston's cartoonish, cutting late work as a starting point, participants drew and coloured their own satirical comics, beginning from Kazvare's illustrations. It was a session about looking closely at the world and then making fun of it.

Ade Warhol

Tate Lates Online, 2020

Meet Ade Warhol, the British-Nigerian pop artist who never existed. Riffing on Warhol's Campbell's Soup cans, we invited people at home to colour in an illustrated tin of Carnation milk: pop art, via the diaspora kitchen cupboard.

Morley’s Chicken Box Workshop

Tate Lates, 2019

A workshop and pop-up installation paying tribute to South London institution Morley's, with chicken boxes redesigned through pop culture, local pride and nostalgia.

(The project was later inducted into Morley’s historical highlights, which honestly felt like an honour.)

OTHER WORKSHOPS + EVENTS

How to Be a Decent Human Being: Travelling Around London

London Transport Museum, 2023

Drawing on the museum's archive of vintage transport posters, this zine-making workshop tackled the big questions of London life: who gets the seat, where to stand and why you shouldn't eat that on the Tube. Participants collaged and drew their own etiquette guides.

Facebook Pop-Ups + Black in Tech Colouring Party

Facebook (now Meta) London offices, 2019

We ran pop-up shops and colouring sessions across all three of Facebook's London offices throughout 2019. We finished the year with a colouring party at the network's Black in Tech event.

WORK WITH THE LAB

We create workshops, takeovers and live events for galleries, museums, brands and public spaces, in person, in store or online. Every project is designed around the space and the people in it, from intimate workshops to full-floor takeovers, for all ages.
